It must have been the same Robin Blaze: he is now indeed a rather well
known counter tenor.
I see from the notes on the LP that when he recorded it he was nearly
15 years old and out of the Magdalen College choir.
I always wondered why the English cathedral and college choirs could
not find a way to hold on to their members past a certain time.
I know that the great German choirs such as Regensburg, Dresden
Kreuzchor and Leipzig Thomanerchor, among others, keep their well
trained singers all the way through their education. Here in Montreal
the P.C. du Mont-Royal have just added a third grade for the youngest
members, and a chorister can now be a member of the choir for nine
years.
I'll post the Robin Blaze LP later on today.I think you'll like it.
