Oh my goodness! To reply to my own message is so shameful, but the
information in my previous answer has now proved to be so wrong and
shameful that I simply must post without delay.
The words of the hymn were *NOT* created by our music mistress but were
written by Mr. Rudyard Kipling!
Do forgive me. I feel ashamed after living so long to have been fooled
by a tale presented to me by one who used to be a young damsel. She is a
young and innocent damsel no more for she waited until I had posted the
false information about Non Nobus Domine in the newsgroup then phoned me
to say how silly I was.
I shall go back to listening and lurking.
