A mysterious explosion at Doc Robbin's lab suggests murder most foul and all
evidence points to Dan. The gang however, led by Curley, suspect otherwise
and set out to prove Dan's innocence.
To find the truth, Curley and friends must snoop around Doc Robbin's spooky
old house filled with secret passageways, dangerous traps and many other
surprises.
It's a fun adventure for all ages that will leave kids sitting on the edge of
their seats!
--Or--
A terrifying explosion shatters the quiet night in a peaceful country town,
destroying the laboratory of old Doc Robbin. With the scientist presumed
dead, the police arrest his nurse, Ann Loring, for murder.
A group of precocious kids led by Curley interrupts her trial to offer evi-
dence that they hope will clear the nurse's good name. Instead, their kind-
hearted friend, Dan, becomes implicated and is charged with the crime.
Determined to prove Dan's innocence, the kids head to Doc Robbin's eerie
mansion to search for clues. Amid the spooky, secret passageways, Curley's
gang uncovers a deadly secret that someone wants to keep buried at any
cost...

By 1947, Hal Roach, the man behind the "Our Gang" ("The Little Rascals")
comedies no longer owned the rights to his "Our Gang" creation, and decided
to create a similar group of kids, to be known as "Curley and his Gang", and
star them in feature-length films shot in Cinecolor. This is the first film
resulting from that idea, and uses many of the situations and a bit toned-
down slapstick comedic formulas from his previous successful endeavors.
Larry Olsen stars as "Curley," the leader of our gang of small scamps (rem-
ember, we can't call them 'Little Rascals' ). He's the angelic-faced
little man whom you might remember from another, somewhat more well-known
film, "Sitting Pretty" (1948), where he played alongside the great Clifton
Webb, or in a bit part in "Room for One More" (1952).
I really wish he'd had more starring roles so I could gaze upon him more
fully...
Also starring in this is a young man who is, in Redneck parlance, 'Ate Up'
with freckles. Just skipping through making screenshots, I'm almost sure
Dale Belding, who plays Thomas 'Speck' Jones (I'd say there isn't a 'speck'
of him that doesn't contain freckles! :-P ) is going to be a major part of
the hilarity of the movie.
Despite having "D I G I T A L L Y R E M A S T E R E D" emblazoned across
the front of the DVD cover, the quality of the transfer leaves a lot to be
desired...
