Hey Opop!
I feel honored to get such a special response from you. I really
appreciate the info. I used to use Giganews, as well as a bunch of
other news-servers, but almost 2 years ago, I asked in the group, and
several "venerables" suggested Astraweb, so I went with them. Also,
in a series of emails with them which I originated from Hushmail, they
said that they do not track downloaders: "Authorities have to
identify an individual when serving an order, and the only way to
identify an individual is when that individual uploads/posts an
article. When an article is posted, it gets tagged with an encrypted
hash, which contains, among other things, the poster's username and
ip. So if the authorities find something bad that has been posted
originating our servers, they contact us with the relevant details and
paperwork and we assist them.
Anyway, good luck with your search for a great Service!
