A lot of you probably know this but, for the benefit of those that don't,
here is an easy way to see what a RAR file holds using nothing more than
one of the most popular Usenet search engines and no need to download any
files.
First, you need to go to -
http://www.binsearch.info/
At the top click on the link for 'browse newsgroups'.
Scroll down until you find alt.binaries.mp3.audiobooks and click on that
link.
Now find the post you want to investigate. For example, go back to 04 or
05 Apr and find one of the posts with those odd headers. Let us say we
use 05-Apr and the post headed -
h4ei934fwp76p5typ68gfdv4pyf402eo07 - [01/43] -
"h4ei934fwp76p5typ68gfdv4pyf402eo07.par2" yEnc (1/1)
Under the header you will see a link marked 'collection'. Click that.
Towards the top of the new page you will see Automated post analysis and
details of the main file in the archives, in this case book 7 of the Dark
Tower series by Stephen King.
Can't guarantee it will work everytime i.e. with passworded rars but
nobody would want to touch them anyway.
Enjoy.
