PW,

Can I throw a thought by you?  You're using the same news reader as I
am (different version) so maybe my solution would work for you.

1- delete this group, re-add it, and reload the headers.  This will
bring this series back to "unread" status.

2- click over the "subject" column header above, so that the reader
sorts the headers by subject, as opposed to sender or date.  Depending
on processor speed, ram, and how may apps you have open at once, this
could take a while.

3- once the headers are sorted by subject, highlight either of the
broken files, RIGHT-click, and on the next menu you see click on
"split sections".  Again, this will take a while.

4- once the sections are split, highlight them all, right-click again,
and select "join sections".  You'll have the option to rearrange the
order of the parts, but if you follow this instruction you shouldn't
have to.  If you want, you can scroll thorugh, to see what part(s) is
missing.  Your call though.

5- Click on "join", give the computer another minute, and you'll see
the header for the first part- i.e. "iren-f.rar(001/999)".  Select
that header to download like you normally would.

6- repeat 3 - 5 for the other incomplete file.

My version of QuickPar was able to repair the incomplete files without
any trouble, and I'm able to open those two rar's.

Hope this helps,

S T
