I was interested in this too. I thought you would have an answer back

Anyway ..... Years ago I used a newsreader called Ozum.  I really
liked it and it worked well. Simple and easy to set up nd use. Posting
mutliparts was very easy and had a screenshot editor too. It was out
of a company in Australia as I recall and the company was a bit hard
to work with if you did have a problem with updated versions.

Ozum would allow you to "peek" into rar files, basically allowing you
to view a single rar file without DL the entire series, join, etc.

They went out of business back in '08 or '09 I believe but you can
still get it.  It also looks like there has been some recent updates
to it, probably so that it will work better with newer OS.  You can
