It's not that I don't 'appreciate' Psychopath's postings, it's that I
have absolutely no use for the programming related books he's posting,
whereas in the past when the group contained subject matter on a wide
variety of non-fiction subjects, I found many hundreds of books of
interest. I'm not a programmer, don't write code, and, at my age of
78, am not about to get into the profession. After my career as a
personnel counselor in the military, I worked as a software tester for
a major insurance firm, but am retired from that, too. I am, however,
interested in the wide variety of other non-fiction subjects that were
part of this group's uploads in years past.
I understand why Rocky had to depart the realm. There are several
other venues for a smaller variety of non-fiction material on a number
of topics that serve to keep me occupied. But considering the enormous
variety of subject matter this group had a couple of years ago, it's a
shame to see it restricted to a (largely) single topic, however useful
the coders currently find it.
I check back from time to time to see whether someone might've picked
up some of Rocky's slack. I'm happy to see that you code writers find
a good treasure trove of material to further your careers. But I'm
afraid that it continues to be slim pickings (no relation to Slim
Pickens) for those outside the profession of code writing.
Well, there's always e-book and e-book.flood, which sometimes pick up
books in the non-fiction genre.
Cheers
