Caballero, in their infinite wisdom, kept the visual countdown at the beginning of each reel, so we get to watch the numbers 5-4-3-2-1 repeated several times during the course of the film. Also, the final scene of the movie is silent, but I'm not sure if it was meant to be. It runs from about 01:22:16 to 01:25:12, and then there is sound again for the last 30 seconds. The DVD has no opening or closing credits and no title screens.
More strange, campy but entertaining porn from Phil Marshak. Several of the same cast members appear in this film as did in Marshak's Dracula Sucks (aka Lust at First Bite), including Reggie Nalder and Long Chainy in major, non-sex roles.
Bill Margold, Jamie Gillis and Paul Thomas also performed in both films, but it's interesting that none of the actresses did.
Hershel plays Ted Singer, a dealer at a San Francisco gambling club cum film-noir private eye in trenchcoat. He is hired by "Big Man" Jamie to find a rare book of prophecies as a gift for his girlfriend, Messina, played by Jacqueline. The search leads Hershel to various adventures (sexual and otherwise) and contact with some nazi holdovers trying to bring back the Third Reich. Margold, Francois and Helga are among the nazi sex offenders. Shanna plays Dottie, a call girl and roommate of Hershel. Danielle is the sauna-loving daughter of a deceased owner of the mysterious rare book. Paul Thomas is Johnny, Hershel's alcoholic buddy.
Trivia: The nazi stronghold is a San Francisco mansion on Telegraph Hill, whose interior we've seen in other classic porn from the 1980s. See if you recognize it.

Porn with a Plot

Usually when I watch porn it all of the sex tends to get old, but with Blue Ice they actually had a plot. Granted it wasn't the best plot in the entire world, but the point is that once you got involved in it, you wanted to stick it through until the end of the movie. Also, this movie features Nazi Archive Footage...what other porn can boast that claim?

A private detective is hired to find an ancient book. What he doesn't know is that the book has the power to turn any woman into a nymphomaniac, and that a group of Nazi scientists--who fled to the US after World War II--also want the book, and will do anything to get it.
Here's a detective story featuring Nazi scientists, a mysterious old book and all this in a high-quality film. This film directed by Phillip Marshak (who also did The Nightmare Never Ends, an horror movie much better than it's reputation could make you believe it is) has a pretty strong cast with Herschel Savage, Paul Thomas, Jamie Gillis, Helga Sven, Jacqueline Lorians, Shanna McCullough, Bill Margold, Danielle Martin and Francois Papillon (which has not a single line since his french accent is quite hard to impersonate a German accent) and someone named Long Chaney.
Ted Singer (Herschel Savage) is a detective hired by Big Man (Jamie Gillis) to find an ancient book with supernatural powers for its owner, something he doesn't know of course. What he doesn't know also is that a group of scientists who fled Nazi Germany when the Nazi power collapsed is looking for this book too, but they know about its power. The leader of this group of scientists is REGGIE NALDER (a very recognizable veteran B-movie & television actor who was in Mark of the Devil, Salem's Lot, The Manchurian Candidate and many other mainstream films). Before fleeing Nazi Germany this group of scientists was working on a formula to instantly transform any woman into a nymphomaniac, a concept that is never really explained or used except at the beginning of the film. It is clear that the more Singer approaches the book the more he is in a collision course with the Nazis with a series of deaths along his path.
For a film made in 1985 [and actually shot on 35 mm film] the quality is strong and one quickly sees that it was made with an decent budget and NOT DONE in one day with a video camera (which is the case for most of the movies made in those years). Even more interesting is the fact that it would be equally interesting and logical without the sex scenes. This film is a perfect example of what an adult film is and what a pornographic movie isn't.
