In a few days, some fans of classical movies should be lucky and
happy. In Search of Lost Movie. A Metropolis version unseen for
eighty-three years.
Those who live in Europe or have by chance an intergalatic/digital
tv-connection will watch Fritz Lang's masterpiece Metropolis in its
fully restored version - including the 25-minute unpublished part that
was found last year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Apparently the
restoration of the damaged part has been a homeric process. It was
directed in Germany by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau Foundation.
Running time: 147 minutes
Date: Friday, February 12th 2010 - 20:45 (local time)
Screening: Friedrichstadtpalast, Berlin (60th Berlin Film Festival)
Broadcast: French-German ARTE TV (HD- and standard channels)
In the same evening at 23:15, a new documentary will be aired: Die
(Germany 2009, 52 minutes). To watch on ARTE TV (HD- and standard
channels). It tells how the film was restored.
