I used some newsreaders. Newsleecher, newsbin pro, gave grabit and agent a
try. Newsleecher has started lacking in development, updates, its supersearch
feature has become unstable and not that good anymore. Newsbin is a very nice
app, but i dont like 2 thing about it
1) it takes lots of time to load a large group
2) its internal search is limited to 240 days and it costs much, it doesnt
support boolean wildmats to define search patters.
I decided to test usenet Explorer. It got very scary oldschool interface and
its kinda difficult to get ur way around all settings compared to newsbin pro,
but its major advantages are:
1) EXTREMELY fast opening of HUGE newsgroups. really fast. I was truly amazed
2)internal search, retention 500 days, support of boolean wildmats,u can search
by so many parameters
On the other hand it sometimes drops downloading speeds when saving chunks to
the diks. but sometimes not.
In other words there is no ideal newsreader...
