:This is the first I've heard of this.  And FWIW, I do burn almost
:everything I post to dvdr and have no problems playing the discs on
:players (which I always test for with all discs I burn).
:
:I prefer to use open source software rather than cracked commercial
:software. Even though I've looked at the new software, none of what
:I've seen permits much in the way of  customizing settings, which
:RipIt4Me and DVDDecrypter allow.
:
:Plus I like that RipIt4Me can rescheme dvd's which start playing
:trailers, logos,or warnings so that  they start on the main menu. And
:until I start running into problems, intend to stick with what I'm
:using.
:
:What I have noticed with some (but not all) dvd's (and this might be
:what is being referred to), is if I load them into DVDShrink, Shrink
:will occasionally offer to remove  Region 1 Coding which RipIt4Me may
:have left. . I will look into my DVDDecrypter settings and see if I
:can fix that.

If RipIt4Me isn't removing region encoding, then you should get something that
does.

:When Shrink prompts to remove coding , I let it remove it.  But of
:course I only use Shrink after I post, since I almost always post
:Untouched -- not compressed or items removed.
:
:To sum it up, I don't think the way things are left by RipIt4Me should
:prevent burning dvdr's successfully that will play on Region 1 Players
:and my understanding is that other region players are for the most
:part RegionFree so there shouldn't be a problem with them either..

Pretty lame excuse. You mess up and then say there's no problem; the other
person needs to get a region-free player.

:What I suspect is that it's just your software which requires that all
:region coding be removed.  I'd suggest looking into Nero or ImgBurn
:for burning dvdr's which I use to burn my dvdr's and rw's and have had
:no problems with.

Sometimes Mac users prefer to use their own software.
