Hi Howl,
You gave me very little to work with, since there are so many variables.
Both posts are 100% complete on the binary search engines, as they are
on Giganews.
I suppose my first question would be, "Why would you d/l a post that was
missing more articles than the accompanying PAR2 files would repair?"
I am assuming that when you say you are missing 1 & 7 blocks
respectively, that you actually mean that 31 more articles are missing
in each post that QuickPar could have repaired?
That would mean you were missing a total of 70 articles in those two
posts.
It has been my experience that among the DVD groups I monitor, some with
more than 40,000 main headers going back to last February, I wouldn't be
able to find 70 missing articles in the entire group.
You say that you use GrabIt. I know very little about that program, but
I do know that the recent version uses Auto-Par & Auto-Rar. If you are
using those features, you will need the latest beta 3 version just
recently released.
How is it that only partially complete parts are being downloaded? A
good binary downloader will require human intervention to finish d/l-ing
those parts.
Perhaps you began the d/l before Usenet propagation had completed.
Things have been slow lately, since we are near one of the equinoxes.
My only advice would be to re-download those posts to see if added time
had improved the situation. Other than that, perhaps Newshosting is not
as great a deal as it is purported to be.
It's a mystery to me, too!
Good luck,
Isis
