Hi Hubchy,

Every NSP I've ever tested has been so much faster than my ISP that there has
never been any difference among them. Neither Giganews nor Astraweb offers HTTP,
but if you wait until the latter half of December you can probably pick up an
entire year of Newzbin for the cost of one month's savings with Astraweb.
Meanwhile, BinSearch is free.

The only real differences between Giganews & Astraweb are two:

1) - Astraweb has an artificial limit on article posting size of 1.28 MB, while
Giganews can handle 3.84 MB. This only affects posters, and only those posters
who would like to post something much larger than a DVD, e.g., a 45 GB Blu-ray
disc. Downloaders are unaffected by this article size difference.

Here is a link that explains this in more detail:

http://forums.newsbin.com/viewtopic.php?t=24228

2) - Astraweb offers approximately 38,000 groups, whereas Giganews is currently
around 109,000. This isn't quite as dramatic as it sounds, since there are a lot
of dead groups out there that no one would ever want, and most of them aren't
even alt.binaries. (Besides, Astraweb will add any group that you request.)

The only reason I use Giganews is that I like to post a lot, and I also want to
be able to post Blu-rays when the time comes. Otherwise, I would probably choose
Astraweb.
