Hubchy, as David pointed out earlier, the files you're trying to download ('Samourai' movie) are good. I checked
their 'completion' (i.e. making sure all of them were 100% received by the newserver) with the help of three
different indexing services. They were indeed posted here 200 days ago on Jan 27 this year. They're the same ones
you and I are talking about.
Different usenet providers have different retention periods (i.e. time they keep files on their servers) and
completion (good providers have close to 100%). Don't know much about Easynews, but looks like they either
already deleted those files from their servers or have some errors preventing you from downloading them.
NZBs themselves only point out to your download manager where the previously posted files are stored. The age of
NZB file doesn't make any difference. The only difference is the age of the actual posted files. If they're
corrupt or not present on the servers of your usenet provier, you won't be able to download them. You only have
access to the stuff your provider stores for you. This is NOT Internet, where everyone has same access to same
websites. In Usenet world you only have access to stuff your provider stores for ya. That's the biggest
difference.
When someone makes an NZB file it doesn't affect in any way the actual posted files. Think of NZB as a shortcut
you make on your computer to the folder where the actual stuff you want is stored. So I can make NZBs for the
Samourai movie every day for the next three months -- that still wouldn't change anything about the actual files.
Whilst other cool kids are downloading them, it means their providers have better quality of service or longer
retention periods. The standard here are the so-called 'premium' providers that offer now 365 days of retention,
not the smaller ones. Some of the crappies ones offer even 14 days of retention and access to few groups, so if
we would've treated the lowest common denominator as a standard, we'd ended up posting in vain same stuff over
and over again every couple of weeks (and some Dutch a-holes in other groups do exactly that).
Whew, I tried to be concise, but looks like it didn't happen, and my dinner break is over :P
So the solution is to find a better usenet provider, the one that keeps their files for more than 200 days. If
you need any more help -- ask away ).
