I downloaded this back in 2009 and again in 2012 - The second being a
better copy. It's a "disaster" scenario. My copies both have
hard-encoded sub-titles, and they are at appropriate places. I'm too
old to really care what happens to the world (no kids to "think
about"), and have watched over the years as the peoples of the world
shit where they live. As a kid, for example, my family had a house on
and vacationed on Sanibel Island. It was a clean wonderland. No local
TV stations, even. Few people (had to take a ferry to Sanibel way back
then, and was before expressways in the US (early 1950's). It was a 3
day drive just to get there and motels were hard to find. I don't have
any pictures from the early days (my sister has our "family pictures).,
but here's me in the later days
https://elsmar.com/Forums/members/1-albums39-picture429.html These days
- Red tide and all sorts of marine life choking the entire FL west
coast for several hundred miles. I have had no use for Florida for
years, really. A big, over crowded tourist trap and home for the aged.
I agree that the film isn't based on sound scientific data and is akin
to the movie about New York freezing over. I can't say it coukdn't
happen, but then again it's not impossible I suppose.
Luckily I traveled to a lot of places around the world in the 1950's
(mostly with my parents) and 1960's, (some alone, such as Youth
Hosteling around Europe on a bicycle, and some with my parents) so I
got to see many countries in Europe (I remember one of the really nice
hostels was in Copenhagen) and Africa at a time when the world was
relatively safe and not over crowded. Even in the middle east I felt
totlally safe. Here are a few pictures, mostly in Paris, France and a
couple from Germany, circa 1965, I think

As to just hearing about climate change - I remember as a kid my older
brother had studied "ecology" and was explaining it to me - Predicted
over population, human induced climate change and much more, sso I knew
about the predictions back around 1960 or maybe a few years later. None
of this is really new stuff. We just know one hell of a lot more these
days.
I expect to be dead within the next 10 years. I may life a bit longer,
but I doubt it. No matter - I wish all the young folks the best, but
it doesn't look good compared to the world I grew up in.
NOTE: The 2 URLs will be gone soon due to a planned software change.
Anyway, good luck, folks! It's a "brave new world" for the young...
