$Why_Digital_Broadcast_TV_Sux.txt
In the long run, I know we had to convert from the analog
broadcast TV to a digital signal for a variety of reasons.
But for people who dont want to, or can't afford to subscribe
to a paid service, the digital signal is a royal pain. I can
no longer be sure I'll be able to watch ANYTHING without some
random loss of signal from ANY channel. The analog signal was
subject to loss as well, but in comparison, it was almost always
watchable with blips very few and far between. With digital, it
happens VERY frequently. It is quite disturbing to have the screen go pure
black right in mid-conversation of a news broadcast, for example.
It definitely takes the enjoyment out of watching TV.
I bought a DVD recorder to attempt to resolve the problem. The idea
was to tape the shows I wanted to see, and tape the same show at
different times, as often I got a better copy at 3am, than at 8pm.
But you'd never know til you watched it, what you had. That turned
out to be too much work for the results I got.
I just wanted to complain out loud. I hope some genius can figure out how
to prevent this problem that adversly affects the poor masses who depend on
an antenna to watch TV.
