Did I mention that the drive's motherboard is tied to the xbox it's in? If the
drive goes down and you replace it you also have to swap the boards over ,hoping
that the fault isn't in the board (it almost never is) The best (and most
expensive) route is to have it chipped. That way you can also play Jtag games
which are much smaller and don't connect to the internet. For the rest, my
previous reply holds good.
If you have the right drive it's as simple as flashing the eprom.If not it's
best to chip it. The soldering isn't for the faint hearted you must be really
good at it with 20/20 vision. I've got to the end of my chipping days I'm afraid
- eyesight has deteriated rapidly over the past 5 years. I could use a
magnifying glass but it's awkward - I'd rather just pay for someone to do it
now.
