I'm not with VM, but years ago was with an ISP that included a freebee
Usenet service (if you could call it that). It really wasn't intended
for binaries, had a 21 day (!) retention period, and most binary posts
were incompletes. Not bad for text only use, but I was collecting OTR
mp3 files at the time and had a ton of trouble getting even them. When
the company changed hands and names, locating to another state, they
dropped Usenet altogether, telling me there weren't enough users to
make it worth their while (not surprising, considering the service
wasn't worthwhile in the first place.)

I don't know what VM's added Usenet service is (was?) like, but if
you're a big binary collector, it may well be worthwhile to consider a
standalone Usenet service, and even a backup block account.
Considering what I've acquired here over the years, $25.00 US per
month is a pretty nominal expense. And I pay for it by cutting my
cable elevision service to Basic (nothing but crap on the 250 channels
they otherwise offer, anyway) and using the difference for my Usenet
account. Certainly get more entertainment from Usenet than I was for
my $100 additional for cable TV.
