Same thing happened to me using the Forte news server at about the same
time.  Message headers that I had previously downloaded let me retrieve
message bodies, but, no more headers were available.  I hope this isn't a
movie industry or record industry action.  That would suck.

Luckily I have two servers available and was able to switch to the alternate
server, Easynews, with out much of a problem.

Like you said, I hope this is temporary and not permanent.  This would could
cost Forte a lot of money.
