I saw it in the theater as well, with a movie called "The Dove" which
is about a kid (16, I think) from Newport Beach who sailed around the
world in a 26 foot Ranger sailboat. The girl I was with and I did one
of those slow takes looking at each other when "The Dove" came on. The
beginning of "Jaws" had a bum-boom-bum-boom sound to it, if you
remember, and so did "The Dove". It was supposed to be the sound of an
old diesel tramp steamer bearing down on him in the open sea, almost
hitting him as he tried to get some sleep. When we heard it we both
thought "Again?". What strange movies to pair with each other! Both
very good, though.
