How is this relevant?
As far as I am aware it is of no importance
as to who is whom in a real life sense.
In a Usenet sense you may not be aware that "Mike" is a
known name trolls use, as is "me' and "just me".. there are others.

I do know a great deal on "stereotypes", be very sure of that.
You, as a poster, I know only what I see or care to note.

This would not be known unless you said so, thanks for doing that.

And as those of us, who help folks distribute their stash here in
ABCP, hope most would use the information (help) provided.

I am not going to be an apologist for Herb, nor preempt his
own response, but I will say this. I recognise Herb as a well
traveled Netizen, and a very skillful poster. As a fact I can
confidentially state I too fill those criteria, yet both Herb and I
travel different paths and have differing perspectives as to
say the likes of good friend "Pixie".
For any one of us skilled Netizens to build such a list
using our experience is not an unrealistic expectation from
your original post.
Just for starters,, you "banner posted", a truly
clueless, and _rude_ manner of posting a request.
Secondly, your "topic" included _nothing_ to say what "this" you
were asking about.
Thirdly, your post (in the Body ) included no link to any site so
it is not then unreasonable for Herb then to conclude you
were referring to ABCP as a web site, which the group is not, yet
which many (as proven in the past) believe it to be.

You are taking the "list" personally, and I (for one) do not read Herb's
response as being aimed directly at yourself. His post is a
comment, nothing more.
.. and given "tongue in cheek" as was mine own, I would add.

Hear me, you expect Herb, or anyone else, to keep a mind register
of who is who in terms of chat?
Sorry, that is just not going to happen anywhere on Usenet until
you have contributed consistently for years using the same
persona.. and definitely not when you use "mikey". It is unfortunate
if "Mikey" is your real name but nobody here can change what has
been long established, See "Mikey/Mike" see troll.
The presumption is quite understandable. That simple.
I myself (given the lead) would not have responded the way Herb did.
If you object to his TIC bit of fun you would have leapt off your
chair and reached for the angina tabs on reading what I would have
posted, believe that <BFG>

IF (or when) you read the tutorials posted you will then understand
there is no other group possible to do what we do here in ABCP.
I sympathise with your situation and can only say to you
what is here is here and you cannot expect more than what people
freely give.
Also, there is history in this group, history that has seen many
posters become very cautious. Surely you read those threats
by "candy" posted only a week ago?
Then we have that Jean person putting his nose in again, you
remember the strings of NARC posts he made back in 2005/6?
>But if you think I am whatever no answer is needed I had always

It is a "nice place to be", however it is Usenet and it is a group
that has (as some activities) stuff going on that many people
would object to and try very hard to stop happening, for their
own reasons, some maybe commercial.
You have to balance all of that.
Nice is great, but "nice" will maybe also land a poster in a
whole heap of real life trouble just for posting (helping).
I will tell you, I am the guy who wrote those tutorials.
In the years since (and before elsewhere) I have personally
been threatened several times with both Interpol action
and local LEA action, simply for doing what I do.
And these days all I do is advise posters .. helping people.
So, sure.. I am a "nice guy", as recognised by a number
of my peers, buuuut I am also very aware of the realistic
value of "nice" on Usenet.
Nice just does not cut it when risk is the prime criterion
of what one does.
Long rant.. but I do hope it helps you see things in a new
perspective.
Others will no doubt comment too.
Only you can weigh it all and draw your own conclusions.
thank you
