Welcome Back to the wonderful world of Embroidery...
having used both programs, I would recommend PE, as from what I have
used it for (digitizing assorted things from scans or from screen
captures) I have had much better luck with it, and also found that the
tutorials it provided inside were MUCH more helpful than what I found
with Embird... to be honest, I didn't spend much time with Embird
because once I found out how easy it was to work with PE, I was really
hooked... perhaps someone who uses Embird might be able to give it a
more favorable/biased review, but I wasn't impressed with it at the
time (this was over a year ago and I haven't gone back to it since)
I'm not even sure what version it was at the time.
For reference I use PE-7 if that makes any difference.
