22.POSTS THAT MAKE NO SENSE
Q: What are all these meaningless combinations of letters I see in the
articles?
A: There are two possible answers for this question. The first one is,
if the first post in the series has an attachment (i.e. virt vix r01
1/5), but the following posts are nothing more than a bunch of
meaningless letters and symbols (i.e. virt vix r01 2/5, 3/5,4/5,5/5).
That is what a multi - part binary file looks like when it is loaded
onto a newsgroup. Chances are you are using Outlook Express or a
similar browser, if this is the case, you will have to use the message
combine and decode function to put the parts back together again. (A
better solution is to get "AGENT"- [included in the NSK] which will
recombine the messages automatically.) The second possible answer is
if you see a grouping of meaningless letters in an otherwise normal
message that is a form of Internet Shorthand. Some common ones are:
TIA - thanks in advance
