No apologies necessary, Maggy. I could hear that English is/was not
your first language, and why my response was as plain as I could make
it. It probably sounded a little direct.
At this stage, I was more interested in trying to get you to see that
there was a problem (only a small one) than trying to scare you away.
The problem in here is that the people who can't get the files, cannot
always say they didn't. Not everyone can post, or even wants to.
Post or just lurk.
That is ok. It's a public area. You can sit silent for however long
you want.
The thing is. If you do post, then you would want everyone to see it
and join in. We all sew. We all want to share what we have if we can.
I sew first, I compute second. But to be in here, I had to learn how
to drive this Usenet thing. So I could share with the most people.
Is all. :-)

That heading is telling people what you are using to get to Usenet.
Nothing to do with the 'Agent' program I am talking about.
Herb's says -
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0)
Gecko/20121026 Thunderbird/16.0.2
(Interesting... I see this a lot elsewhere, and it's not Herb...)
Which tells you what He uses to drive around Usenet.
Mine does not say User-Agent. Mine says X-newsreader.
There's a hint there, I'm sure.

I guess at a base level, it was about getting someone to help you with
it.
To me, it is a kindergarten level way of getting what you want from
here.
Which, is possibly more my problem as I was thrown in at the deep end
and told to swim or drown... such was the extremism of my Teacher.
I did not drown, but I've been left to paddle around on my own...
You can post, I have seen you do it many times.
All we need to do is tweak it when it is not doing what you want.
Is all.

True. One just does a better job at it. Is all :-)
Usenetexplorer, Grabit, Newsleecher and others, get the job done
"most" of the time.

That is where we could all help each other by understanding what the
other is doing.
I am as patient as death.
There is no such thing as a "stupid question".
All questions are welcome if you find something is not working.
Just ask.
Someone in here will surely have an answer.

Same here. I do when I have stuff, but being in a different timezone
(basically your future!), I am too late for a lot of requests.
Maybe we should all start requesting more?
Generate a little more discussion amongst the Ladies about what we
would like?? Or what we are embroidering at present??
Maybe a wish list is what we need to start??
People don't know what others don't have, unless we say.

True and correct.
Just be less pleased if only the requester gets it... /grin

Enjoy :-)
All I want for this group is the knowledge to keep you all posting.
Because without it, we have nothing.
When something goes wrong, I want you to understand what happened.
All of you. (Sometimes it's such a ballsup that I can't even tell!)
Is all.
If you are using different programs, then we have to figure out the
settings for you, so that you understand what isn't working.
As an aside..
Is anyone interested in having older design sets posted??
Stuff that has gone through this group in years gone by but hasn't
been seen for a while?
The newbies to the group may not have the older stuff??
Clearly labelled, those that do already have it can pass it by.
Anyone interested in seeing older stuff reposted??
We could all have a posting practice... no??
Pixie :-))
