How fast is your machine speed??
Turn it down to a walking speed and see how it goes.
This could be causing breaks if the thread is weak.
You will have to slow it down in the writing in the outer circle also
if that proves helpful.
Black thread is most likely to be the weakest thread because some
thread houses when they find themselves with a dodgy coloured batch,
overdye it black.
This weakens the thread. A lot. Many sewers find their darker colours
are most likely to break and this is why. The manufacturer saves money
by overdyeing the light colour to a darker hue, or if that is not
possible, then black it is.
The only thread house I know that guarantee they don't do this is
Ackermann ( they produce the Isacord/Isafil/Isa_everything range of
threads). I pretty much refuse to use any other thread because of
this.
I can run this thread at speed and use it often for lacework, even the
black.
But you have to use what you have, so try turning the speed right down
on your machine. Use the foot pedal if you can to control the speed
(although not all machines allow this).
If the slower speed does not help, then I can only think it is still
the thread.
Good luck with the slowest speed.
