Polar fleece is synthetic and doesn't shrink, so use non-shrinking
thread such as a polyester, nylon, silk, or rayon.
Since you didnt' say what size you want, I'm assuming something in the
range of 6 to 10 inches wide for the lettering. A solid background
might make the scarves or throws stiffer than you'd like. You could
also add a Marine Corps emblem, if you'd like.
There are quite a few Marine Corps related designs available (that is,
in my stash!), including the Marines bulldog, an Iwo Jima flag
raising, and the MC Anchor/Earth/Eagle emblem, with and without
surrounding text. What I don't have readily available is just the
words 'Semper Fi' in an appropriate size (one inch long doesn't seem
quite right!). Others might have to be resized as well. I can probably
get to it by the end of the weekend, and send you the whole batch.
