Light pink is fine as a colour for flesh in a colour palette.
I choose to use the Hus palette. I have 3 shades of 10 colours.
Although 2 shades of white and one black is hardly three "shades" of
anything! Two shades of white had me laughing when I saw it.
I have survived admirably under such archaic conditions, according to
my 4D friends who think it is positively prehistoric to have less than
a thousand to choose from...
I smile to myself.... knowing who the clueless one is... not me!!

You gotta find it first, if you IS determined to run with a particular
palette. We have one embroidery shoppe here. They stock what they get
paid the most (by promotions) to stock.

Hand embroidering since I was old enough to stick myself with a
needle.
I have yet to follow a colour chart for any of them and my walls are
littered with tapestries, cross stitch and assorted machine
embroideries. My Mother has my biggest tapestry, over 2100 square
inches. There is not a colour on that one that was listed in the
chart... ok, maybe the white... white is white...
I have yet to meet a fellow sewing Lady in any of the sewing fests I
have joined in on who has either. And I've met a lot of Ladies!
Mostly it is because of their individual colour sense.
I like fresh, soft colours. More in the spring range.
I have friends who gravitate towards the warm colours of autumn or the
stark colours of winter.
Things like that.
I would be interested to know the numbers of people who can get their
hands on the actual threads in a colour chart.
A shoppe would have to be particularly well stocked to carry thread
from Mettler to Robison Anton and everything in between.
Stock costs money.

This is why I get so naff about people and their "but I need the
colour chart to see what colour I need".
Printed charts are not colour reflective of the thread anyways.
I have a thread chart that is actually THREAD. It's not a printed
square of the colour, it's the actual thread.
When I order it, I get the colour I am looking at.
If I order from a printed chart, it isn't always what I thought it
was. A printed chart is a guide only.
Do you know Pooh Bear has His own colour number in one brand of
thread??!! Couldun believe it when I saw it! Like little kids know
this, or even care??!!
In all the times I have sewn Pooh Bear, not one kid has ever called me
on it being the wrong orange... and damned if I am paying extra for
"Pooh Bear orange"... /smacks forehead!
Like white... you may want a white that doesn't burn your eyeballs
out. I like the white that does. It always looks "clean". But it's not
suitable for heirloom work. Capiche?
Heirloom should look "softer" and the stark white of "brilliant white"
is too harsh.
So you buy one that looks a little less "high beam".
You've never tried to match red shoes to a red dress... aye??
Ladies here would know that is almost impossible unless you take a
material swatch to one of those wedding shoe people and they custom it
for you.
It's easier to wear black shoes.../laff
