In my original response, I stated that DST files have no color
palette. There is NO color information available, and as the old
country saying goes, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Whatever software you're using arbitrarily assigns colors to DST files
in an arbitrary sequence; they have absolutely nothing to do with the
'original' colors. The colors are usually in a sequence like black or
dark purple, green, blue, and red.
The ONLY way to get appropriate colors is to manually enter them from
whatever source you can find - either a color chart or a picture or
your own best ideas.
Actually, there's one other way - and that's to find the design in a
'home embroidery' format such as .hus, .pes, .art, etc. Commercial
formats such as DST, EMB, and EXP all carry no color data.
