Very well said, Doc. And perhaps a bit overdue.
I've actually gotten messages in my inbox, requesting that I try to
convince a certain poster to post in a group that the sender gets.
While I haven't made any major posts in years, I remember, with some
pain, how much effort it is to set up the posting software, group the
files together and what-not. I quit posting, partly due to a lack of
original material, but more so because of a lack of appreciation for
what was posted, not to mention being criticized for not posting more,
or for not posting 'different' material. I simply gave up and went
back to lurking.
I too am guilty of not posting a simple word of "thanks!" more often
and I shall try to do better. But I have never complained, never
whined, never been demanding or pushy about anything or anyone. If a
file type was posted that I wasn't familiar with, I searched the
internet and found what software was required to utilize it. Yes,
there were times when I got stumped and wasn't able to figure
something out, but rather than whining or complaining, I simply gave
up and moved on. When my newsreader no longer suited me, or didn't do
what I needed / wanted it to do, I didn't bitch, I got myself a new
newsreader. It's called "adapting" folks.
Bottom line: DPOTP
