Attention ALL and text posters:
Let me preface this by saying NO ONE should take this post as a
personal attack. I am addressing the group and group behaviors.
You may have noticed that there is a steadily decreasing amount of
content available in the groups. This is YOUR fault. The posters
are sick and tired of you endangering their security by making
comments about the nature of the content of posts. I don't blame
them. Why should they bother posting openly when someone (who
doesn't know better) posts passwords, group names, or content
descriptions for everyone to see? What happens then? The posters
get their posting privileges canceled or worse.
The posters are fed up with your constant whining. 'I can't see
this post on my server!' Why are you posting with yEnc? My
newreader can't decode that!' 'Why doesn't anyone post more of THIS
or THAT?' 'What kind of program opens these files?'
They are irritated with your laziness. Why would anyone ask for a
repost if the PAR files are right there? If you're not receiving
complete posts why don't you change news servers? Get the software,
Learn to use the software, and you will have no problems. The
posters KNOW when their posts don't go through properly. When that
happens they almost ALWAYS do a repost without anyone asking.
And most of all they are sick of your demanding attitude. 'Post the
following titles for me:' 'I requested these last week, why didn't
you post them?' 'I didn't like that post, post more of this.' You
know all of this is true. You're either lazy, stupid or evil. Take
your pick.
As of today, ALMOST ALL of the posters have left, they are
posting for themselves in secret groups and you find yourselves ASS
OUT.
That's right, they are in secret groups, and not so secret groups,
posting for themselves only. They will not acknowledge you, they will
not respond to you. They disdain you. And YOU made all of this happen
either through inexperience, stupidity or selfishness.
I tried to broker a deal with the posters on your behalf to allow me
to share passwords and the location of the secret groups so you will
have access to the content you seek. They would have none of it. I
guess I don't blame them. Don't ask me for the secret groups or the
passwords, I don't have the passwords and I won't give out the group
names, it doesn't matter anyway, you could never access the material.
A buttload of people have asked for my list of groups. Almost all are
appreciative, if they acknowledge my e-mail at all, but then some
write back to complain that many groups are dead or there is not much
posting going on. This is typical of the behavior I'm talking about. I
give you a list of recently active groups and you complain to me that
it's not enough. Bloody hell.
SO now we have hundreds of lurkers who are desperate for new material.
What are we going to do now?
My primary concern is for the safety of boys in real life. As the
groups have begun to dry up, lurkers have been getting more and
more desperate. I believe that the content provided by the posters
keeps boys safe, bottom line. If they can wank their fantasies
away, then BLs are less likely to be aggressive toward a boy in
their life.
My secondary concern is for the safety of newbie lurkers who out of
desperation and inexperience will make foolish mistakes that
compromise their security and bring them into conflict with
authorities. This is already happening.
So what can YOU do?
Well, if you have a boy in your life, leave him alone. Boys are the
treasures we live for. Taking advantage of a boy for your own selfish
gratification goes against what we're about. It will hurt the boy
emotionally, physically and psychologically, it will likely end you in
prison. Make your focus about the needs of the boy you love, NOT about
your desires.
DO NOT expose yourself to websites or peer-to-peer networks without
the proper security measures. These two areas are where you are most
vulnerable. Desperate people do desperate things and you'd only be
making the job of LEA easier. Don't try to pick up a boy in a
chatroom. It ISN'T a boy. It's a cop. Consider the dangers and
consequences of your actions BEFORE you make a fatal mistake.
As of this moment you have a tiny handful of posters willing to share
with you. Treasure these posters, do nothing to alienate them.
Appreciate them. When they go away you are completely fucked. If you
show that you can act properly as a group, it may entice some former
posters to return and give you a second chance. Pray for that to
happen.
SOME ADVICE:
If there are parts missing in a post, use the PARS. If a post is so
terribly corrupted that PARS can't fix it, then you need to get
another news service.
Don't complain that you don't have these groups on your news
server. That's YOUR problem. Have your provider add the group or
change services. Even now there are text posters in another group
trying to hound one of the few remaining posters to switch to a
different group. Posters rule, adapt! At the very least compromise
delicately with the poster, DON'T be demanding.
1) Do not not share the other group names openly.
2) Except to say thanks, do not discuss group content openly. Rather
make comments in a different group like this one.
3) Thank posters appropriately.
4) Do not post to ask questions in the content group. Use a separate
text group, like this one.
5) Do not post requests unless they are solicited by the posters.
6) Do not post to ask for reposts. Use the PARS or change servers.
7) Do not post to complain. Nobody cares what a whiner thinks and it
just pisses off posters.
If it is clear that a post was incomplete on the server of origin,
discuss it in a separate text group. The poster may repost files if it
is clear the poster's service came through incomplete. The idea is to
keep the content of a group unknown to those who happen to be passing
through, like trolls, or zealots. Someone would have to go to a lot of
trouble to figure out what's going on in a group if we follow those
guidelines.
Finally, don't flame me for pointing these things out. For once, just
consider how YOU might have been a part of the problem.
STAY SAFE,
Doc
