My guess: Lack of worthwhile content is slowly destroying the whole of
usenet, not just any person's particular favorite newsgroup.
For example, I was always amazed at the strength and ubiquity of the
admiration of Sandra. There were always, apparently, huge numbers who
did worship her. Still do, in fact, even though she's married now. I
was never much impressed personally, but I put it down to "viva la
difference". For me, she was never as cute or bold or desirable (let me
call it the "CBD factor") as Kate or Inna or [your favorite honey
here].
Then of course there was the flood of LS/BDC material. Beautiful
models, high technical quality, strong CBD factor, huge quantity. But,
as with most good things, did not last forever. But, in the meantime,
it might've raised expectations. Seen it once, want more and, when
there is no more, disappointment, disillusionment and boredom set in.
These days, mostly just endless spam. Boring, crappy adult bullshit
porn mostly of very low quality. Some, deliberately shit, designed to
flood and ruin. Any material designed to appeal to us that does get
posted, is mostly reruns from years ago. I have not seen any obviously
new material with a CBD factor, for a long time.
Why? Don't know. There are still zillions of girls willing to pose.
Maybe the photographers and webmasters have grown cold feet but I don't
know why that should be so. Even during the last few years when nudity
has become rare, they were still pumping out material that is obviously
illegal under US law. (Did they never learn the fact that nudity is not
a necessary ingredient to make a photo illegal, whereas many clothed
shots are illegal?)
Final possibility, and the most-likely, are the credit card companies.
and early two thousands. Hundreds of web sites were offering soft-core
LS and BDC stuff in the tens or even hundreds of thousands. As the card
companies caught on to what was happening, they, I suppose, put on
hoards of new staff whose sole job was to fuck those sites and
card-processing contracts. I was personally-affected, myself.
They were very successful in that and today, even the sites offering
only non-nude material (even the non-nude strictly legal sites) are
closed soon after opening. That is a very strong disincentive to
photographers and webmasters who might be considering their next move.
There are solutions to the tyranny of the card companies but here is
not the place to discuss it. Pity.
What can be discussed in usenet is the attitude of the photographers
and webmasters. I would be very interested to read a simple
acknowledgement of status. I would like to learn who among the readers
here, are webmasters and photographers. People willing to provide
content if only there were a solution to the problem of getting money
into their pockets.
I would, for example, like someone more-qualified than I, to recommend
an existing newsgroup that is currently empty, to be used for the
purpose of discussion only (no pictures) of the problems faced by and
the professional lives currently being led by photographers and
webmasters. Is anyone motivated enough to step forward and make a
suggestion? Nothing illegal in the plan or the proposed correspondence
so someone should be interested.
What might come out of increased communication could be a solution to
the current payment-processing constipation. Then we all benefit.
Models, photographers, webmasters, collectors.
(I want to capture as big an audience as possible with this message so
I'll post in several groups, but individually, so as not to offend
against the golden rule "no cross-posting". Please forgive me if you
see it more than once.)
