Have you considered subscribing to a block account to get fills for
those missing parts? Used in conjunction with your primary Usenet
service, they can grab those missing bits and pieces to complete your
download. The service I use, Blocknews, goes back to late 2008 at
present, and I generally have little trouble getting complete
downloads, or have minimal need for pars. Items from 2011 should be no
problem at all. Yes, Giganews has very poor retention, in spite of
their claims, though I still use Giga myself. Add a flat-rate block
account, and you ought to really improve your download completion.
Since you only use up your block purchase as you grab those missing
pieces, a 200gig buy ought to last you quite some time. And it's not
very expensive. Google 'Blocknews'.
If you need help making settings in your reader, ask. I and many
others use Agent, but if you use another reader, no doubt there's
someone on Usenet who can point you in the right direction.
