One cannot meaningfully simply call one's self a surrealist. The fact
is that either one
is a surrealist by virtue of existential experience or not. It is
similar to a most secret
society that invites its initiates, and initiates them into it's
mysteries. It is not something
that one simply chooses to be. Of course, those chosen are chosen
because of some
genius, in the same way that Dali understood the meaning of genius.
