SILLY PUTTY PEOPLE
Their wisdom is not too reliable
because their beliefs are so easily pliable
This is the style in which they think-
Shove their faces into newsprint
and watch how they soak up the ink
Roll them, stretch them, press them!
They are subject to the power of the press
Because they are so easily impressionable
They believe that they are free and independent, though
Their positions harden, more like Play-dough
With soft heads, they take firm stands
But who and what they currently are
depends on who holds them in their hands
The ideas are empty and the minds are closed
They wear their Silly Putty opinions
like the Emperor with no clothes
You could not pound sense into them with a mallet
So put them on a pedestal, instead
and hand them a voting ballot
They are the enthusiastic army
of the Silly Putty Political Party
The gullible, the gutless, the absurd pieces of putty
Are deeply religious, no matter how nutty
The manipulated putty puppets
are preaching piously from the pulpits

SILLY PUTTY NATION
Press your face to the page
and gently lift-
your face looks just like mine today
Who will your idol be tomorrow?
Easily amused
and
easily influenced
The ads are skewed
for
consumers like you
You spend your
tips and wages
on the latest fads
spawned from the
five year plans
of a Madison Avenue empire
Then bitterly complain
about the lifestyles
you support
Told what to enjoy
by media gods
and color monitor lovers
Given the choice to vote
for varying degrees
of self-absorbed swine
You?re a faceless generation:
A silly putty nation

him in the care of his aunt and uncle at sixteen. Chuck
graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago in 1987 and
joined the U.S. Navy in March 1988.
In the navy, Chuck studied nuclear engineering, but he never got
to melt down a reactor
