I generally think that posters receive by far too less thanks. In the
case of "non requested" sets (sets that the poster posts "freely",
without request, because he thinks they might be interesting for the
public) too many people take them for granted and not worth the
trouble posting a short "Thank you" note. This is a big problem in
nearly all groups and I've seen dozens of great posters disappear
because they did not receive proper appreciation. Maybe some folks
think "Nobody asked for these sets so why should I thank for them"?

In the past I always have reduced my postings to a minimum in case I
got no answers and have increased postings when I had the feeling that
people appreciated them. In case of personal requests I always expect
a reply of the requester then - even if it's only an information. In
case I do not receive an acknowledgement this person will not get help
from me any more.

Most interesting is the fact that when postings of regulars cease the
lurkers creep out from their holes and are amazed where the posters
now are - but they never had thanked them for their posts before.

I generally thank posters when I download a set or more, I also
mention what I thank for because I do not download all sets. Dreamer,
your work is very appreciated, and compared to other groups this one
and the sister group has a relatively high rate of thankful people.
