Solomon's Private File #58
These stories about Stephen and Solomon take place starting in
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 15 in this story, in the Summer of 2041.

I asked to see Brian's father in my office. I said to him, "I want to
show you something involving our personal project. For safety, on
another planet. Oh. I didn't think you would have SUCH of a lack of
objections." He chuckled. When he was ready, I ported us to a rifle
range I had set up on Allguard, away from everything else. I said,
"This is the planet we call Allguard. I made this range for this
demonstration. These are some BBs. Check they are normal." He said,
"Right. They are." I said, "And here is a metal tube. Check that it's
all it is." He said, "Checked." I said, "I'm putting it in this holder,
parallel to the ground. Then I put a BB inside this end. When I tell
you, I'm going to do a little trick with PK, and it's going to hit that
target downrange. A series of water filled cans. You can use this scope
to see better. Let me know when you're ready." He did, and I said, "On
three. One. Two. Three!" Crack! The line of ten cans jumped up into the
air and exploded all over. He said "Wow!" I said, "That's a little
premature. The BB is still going. In about twelve clicks, it will lose
enough energy to fall to the ground. But this isn't the really wow
part. Your son has the ability to do this with practically any small
object, now. All I have to do is tell him. The only thing that's
preventing him from knowing how now, is his lack of knowledge of
science."
When he was able to speak, he said, "Am I able to do it now?" I said,
"Possibly. Want to try?" He gulped. He said, "Not really, but I should.
If we ever give this to the FBI, I would have to know." I said,
"Alright. Heat is random molecular motion. In moving heat, we manage
that motion. But instead of managing it that way, why not manage it so
it's not random, but all going in one direction?" His jaw dropped open
in complete astonishment. I said, "Here, examine this BB with your PK.
Let me know when you're done." He said, "Done." I put it in the tube. I
said, "It's best not to stand too closely, and not behind it. The
vacuum this creates is quite forceful. You know what to do. The range
is reset. Fire when ready." I had a 4th shield between it and us, for
added protection. It went off with a sound like a crack, and the cans
did the same dance.
I said, "The size of an object you can do this to, is enabled by your
strength of PK, which governs how many molecules you can influence at
once. Here's what happened when I tried it the first time in this
life." I showed him the time with the big block. I said, "And it's
still going. But what if you only do this with a few molecules of the
item. Say, a broom, for instance?" He looked at me in astonishment, and
said, "So it's really true?" I said, "Witch one?" He grinned and said,
"That one, I think." I said, "With faces disguised, here is my most
recent class where they learned this." I showed him kids riding brooms.
I said, "I suggested the boys ride side saddle, if they wanted to
squirt later." He chuckled. He said, "You teach them in the same style
you are teaching us?" I said, "Yes, including the er, party after.
Private school is really convenient for exercising privates." He
laughed. I said, "But seriously, we who can have and do practically
anything with almost no effort, well, what do we have left that we
value to celebrate with, but ourselves?" He looked strangely at me, and
said, "I see. You have had to form your own society, with your own
customs, to live and work together." I said, "Don't we all?" He nodded,
and said, "I suppose so. But YOU would be fully aware of all of it,
where most wouldn't." I said, "True."
I said, "Here's a block of wood. Select an area near the top of it,
to make the molecules go up. But the right amount to make it hover." He
tried a few times, and then succeeded. then it fell. I said, "That's
fine. It used the energy it had." He said, "But then it wouldn't have
worked with the broom." I ported a broom to me, and put a candle in the
straw, and lit it. I got on the broom, and it lifted. He said, "That's
really how they did it! Energy from the candle." I went back down and
got off. I said, "Actually, no. A lit candle in straw REALLY isn't
compatible with any real speed of travel, but what they used, did look
like it to the other people. We'll get to that later. I'm showing you
all this because Brian can't learn how to make objects move with
molecular motion, or do more with energy, without knowing the
absolutely destructive possibilities, first. And this is just one of
the things that's dangerous in the full use of PK." He looked at me
thoughtfully, and said, "I realize I was a fool in not trusting you. We
aren't only trying out things the FBI can use. We have to decide if
they should actually know about it, and I ruined that for you." I
nodded and said, "Would you have accepted that if I had told you in the
beginning?" He said ruefully, "No, and I probably would have told him
sooner. You should have required an inhibition." I said, "Conflict with
the pride you had then, would have limited your ability to learn." He
said, "I did it again. I underestimated your ability to think of all
these things in advance." I said, "Everybody does that. Built in
feature. We are not able to understand and accept an intelligence
greater than our own." He nodded acceptance.
I said, "So, we have to decide whether or not to continue this
program, either with Brian, or without him, or stop it completely." He
said, "That's a tough one. The inhibition crystal and the periodic
monitoring could help. But you won't monitor Brian because he has no
legitimate reason to use any of this." I said, "Unless he eventually
goes into security. Even as he is now, it's going to be a test for him
when he enters any kind of competition. He could have an unfair
advantage if he uses his PK abilities." He said, "But you don't have
that problem." I said, "We are clear. We can't have that issue. We have
to be fair. So much so, in my sports competition on Posintan, I broke
my arm, my leg, and a bone in my hand, and still continued until I
completed my turn. And then stood on one foot while the judges argued
about points." He said, "Wow!" I said, "I have to tell you, I was
thinking other things at the time." He almost choked. I said "Here's me
at that time. My assistant was allowed to wrap my breaks for
stability." He said, "In the background. I see what your event was.
Martial arts breaking." I said, "It was. Before that, I had NO idea I
would be adding myself to the things to break!" He laughed.
He said, "In my opinion, we should continue with Brian. He is
maturing fast. You can always implant a stronger inhibition if he
misuses anything. I can't decide for the Director. I'm very relieved, I
have to tell you, to pass the buck on that." I said, "Next thing. Do we
tell Brian about this excursion? If so, he will have to know why." He
said, "I know, but I don't want to keep secrets from him." I said,
"Then I'll tell, because it was my idea. No need to make him think you
didn't trust him." He hugged me with tears and love.
I ported us back to my office, and said, "Please keep my offplanet
sports thing to yourself. People would want to see it, and it's NOT
pretty watching somebody's bones break like that." He said, "I
understand. Secret it is. Er, this time." We had to grin at each other.
I ported to Brian's bedroom. He said, "Dad told me the lesson today
is going to be on another planet!" I said, "Right. Doing it inside one,
wouldn't work as well." He almost hit me. His father said, "Absolutely!
Needs a LOT of space." I said, "Oh, and I showed him some of what we
might be doing, so I could get his approval for the adventure. Don't
worry. Let him worry, because you'll see more than he did." Brian's
grin almost split his face. His father looked at me with approval and
awe. I said, "Ready to port?" We ported to the new rifle range. But
this time were were a lot of other things there. I said to his father,
"Right. A lot of new stuff. Let's sit around this fire pit area. I'll
start the fire." There was then a blazing bonfire. I said, "Oh, and for
pronged holders to put them over the fire. They really grinned.
I ported a big bowl to the ground, with a big block of ice in it. I
said, "Brian. Fire. Heat. Ice, cold. Make it water." He grinned and
nodded, and soon the ice melted. I replaced that bowl with one with ice
again, and a big battery next to it. He got the message, and used the
energy in the battery to melt the ice. Then the battery exploded, but I
had it covered in a 4th shield. His father said, "I understand why it
exploded, and why you allowed it, because you were protecting us, but
how did you do that?" I said, "PK could have done that. Mine, that is,
but I used something related to porting. Reacts faster, and more
adjustable, and PK can work through it. Brian. Why did it explode?" He
said, "Could only be one reason. I drew too much power too fast. I see
the lesson there. That's dangerous, and I have to be very careful with
that, even though you almost made me piss my pants!" We laughed. His
father said, "It's important. That lesson you will NEVER forget. Sol is
a VERY good teacher!" They nodded to each other. I said, "Besides the
unnecessary teacher embarrassment, there is much more this should show
you both. Oh, alright, I'll tell you. Self defense stun guns use nine
volt batteries, and without exploding them." They both said, "Wow!" I
said, "Whenever you are near a battery or an electrical outlet, you can
defend yourself, and use the energy for different things. IF you have
good control so you don't destroy everything around you. Practicing
with your PK helps with that."
I said, "Show me your projection. Place it near the fire." He did.
and lasted a full minute. I said, "They ALWAYS do that! Do I really
look like that? I don't think it's possible for anybody to grin that
wide." They grinned. I gave them a rude noise. I said, "Do it again,
and use the energy of the fire to make it last longer. Yes, pull the
energy, and put it in the image, setting in your mind how much, and for
how long the draw should last." He did, and even after a minute, he
wasn't tired. I said, "Now make the image move like it's alive." He
really tried not to get excited, and succeeded. The thing did move, but
not realistically. I said, "Fine. Let it go now. I think you might have
thought that it's useful near a fire, but you can't carry one around
you all the time, or the fire department would be annoyed with you." He
said, "But I can use batteries." I said, "Yes, but VERY carefully. If
it's in your pocket, your hands might lose one of their favorite
activities." They laughed, and he tried to poke me, but his finger hit
something invisible and stopped. I said, pointing a finger at him like
I was going to poke him, "You know what to do. Try." My finger met some
resistance. I said, "Imagine your PK is a wall." That resistance firmed
up. I said, "You can practice that by your father throwing objects at
you. I recommend soft things at first. NOT marshmallows." Chuckles.
I said, "Watch this." A ball of fire appeared in the air. I said, "Do
that yourself." He said to himself, "I know you wouldn't tell me to do
said, "Oh!" His ball of fire appeared next to mine. I said, "Now
explain to your perplexed father what you did." He said, "That shield
he showed me that I did. I made a ball of it, and put some of the fire
energy inside it. I made my own personal battery!" I said, "Right. But
that's not all. You figured it out. That says a lot for your
intelligence and inventiveness. Oh, and you can make the PK container
self powered from the internal energy. It doesn't need much at all for
that." While I was saying that, they were looking at me in awe. Brian
whispered, "A great teacher!" I cleared my throat and said, "There is
one more thing." I ported a small log to the ground. I sent my ball of
fire through it, burning a smoking hole in the log. I said, "In old
times, this effect was called a salamander." He then did what I did. I
said, "All these things we did here today, you don't need to practice.
Your PK will remember. What you CAN and should practice, is your
projection, and lifting with PK, the heaviest objects you can, and
shielding with PK. That's all for today. We didn't cover what I showed
your father here yet, because too much new at one time isn't good. But
while we're roasting those white lumps, we can play with some projected
illusions." My pink elephant honked at them. They laughed.
We roasted marshmallows and ate them. Then my elephant curled his
trunk around one of the prongs, and brought it over to me so I could
put a marshmallow in it, and it went to the fire and put it over it.
Brian was going to ask me how I did that, but my look made him decide
not to. Then he made a little monkey do what my elephant did. I nodded
with a smile, and he grinned his face almost in half. His father was
looking back and forth at us with a smile. I said, "Yes, you can
combine your abilities in different ways." I made a ball of fire
energy, and sent it up into the sky to explode like fireworks. They
said, "Wow!" Then Brian did it, and they said it again.
When we were ready to go home, I said, "Back to the bedroom?" They
nodded. I made the camp site safe, and ported us. I said, "Much more
than you expected?" They both said, "Yes!" I said, "A warning. Playing
with energy, including fire, is VERY dangerous. I strongly suggest you
don't do that in any place that can be damaged. Or witnessed by
people." Brian said, "I'll remember." Then they moved to hug me. I
sighed, and they laughed. We had some great orgasms.
