It does matter if the boys are forced and are abused. How much it
matters is the question.
It also matters if they are NOT forced and NOT abused. How much it
matters is the question.
If it matters so much to you that some boys in some cp are being forced
and abused, then consider this:
Many children in the U.S. are not at all interested in learning long division.
They have heard it is difficult, that it is not at all fun, and they
are not interested in it at all.
Some educational theorists suggest that it is potentially harmful to
force, coerce, or even artificially incentivize the learning of
materials that children are not comfortable with, or are not ready for.
In the U.S., education is compulsory in most states until age 18. In
some states, like Kansas, which often seems like they are ready to
fight the Civil War all over again, it can be lower.
However, there are some children in the U.S. whose parents place such
great stock in education, or in grades (not the same thing) that they
will BEAT their children for getting anything below a "B" or a "C".
The choice to learn long division or not is not, in most cases, left to
the child to decide.
So, what we are left with is a large number of children being forced,
coerced, or bribed into learning long division. Again, some kids are
BEATEN for not cooperating with that process.
I hardly think you would suggest that NO children be taught long
division simply because SOME children are forced to learn it, against
their will, and some are BEATEN if they fail to do so.
I look at child porn the same way. I don't agree with forcing kids to
do anything they are not ready for and do not feel comfortable with. I
don't think viewing pictures or videos of children happily learning
long division is wrong. I don't think it should require chemical
castration or long-term imprisonment if a person enjoys seeig children
doing natural, healthy things with their minds and bodies.
Little League Baseball is very popular. Some boys are forced to play
baseball. Some boys are beaten for not winning games. It's sad, but
true. It won't stop me from watching the Little League World Series
this year.
