You might want to think about adding a block account from someone like
Blocknews.net (there are others, as well) I recently re-downloaded
another group from the start and Giga only went back to 2013. I tried
a second time unselecting Giga and selecting Blocknews in the
newsgroup software and got headers as back as late 2008.
Blocknews is fairly cheap, all things considered. You only 'use' your
purchase of download when your newsgroup reader can't find the data on
Giga (for example) and looks to Blocknews for those missing pieces, so
a purchase of 100 gigs (for example) may last you a year, depending on
how much has been dropped/lost from your normal Usenet service
provider.
I've been using Blocknews for several years, have been extremely
satisfied with the service I get, and rarely, if ever, have had a
problem with getting headers or complete downloads on some very old
posts. If the uploader gave you enough PARs (and nearly all do),
you'll rarely find a post you can't get to completion.
