Yeah, they're both gone!
Sometimes they just disappear from the site &
sometimes the girls will let you know that they are actually retiring.
SC has been lenient in allowing inactive girls to remain on the site.
Take Justice for example, last post Jun 2010!
The rules state updating at lease once per month but I guess as long as
they pay their 'dues', they're not bothered.
They just dumped around 40 charms, 37 of them were posts by Hugh.
Like you said, if search results turn up a zero, I assume retirement.
