Description
===========
When the band Annwn was founded in the summer of 2006, this was done with the
aim of interpreting melodies from long-gone times and foreign cultures in their
own new way. For the first time harp and singing should be at the center of the
arrangements, supported by an epic foundation of strings, lutes, flutes and
percussions, to take into account the beauty and clarity of the old melodies.
Since then the name Annwn has been a synonym for a cinematically arranged
chambermaid beyond the boundaries of the tangible. The band weaves mystically
filigree sounds into a network of evocative melodies that captivate the
listener, revive the legendary other world. The music of Annwn tells stories,
ancient legends, captures those magical moods in which time seems to stand
still.
Carried out by Sabine's clear, warm voice and soft harp sounds, the band's
music revives from past centuries, playing playfully between oriental melodies,
Nordic folklore and traditional sounds from Brittany, Scotland and Ireland. The
repertoire ranges from the music of the troubadours to church pieces, for
example, from the famous Cantigas de Santa Maria, or from their own
compositions in the old style.
