Pleased to offer up another new, Recorder 4, source for the excellent final night of the 1984 seven night stand in LA.
This one comes out of my own archives traded for in the mid-1980's, it ran extremely fast and required between a -72 to -82 cents pitch adjustment depending on the side.
This one gave me fits for hours, for a while (a long while) I thought I was dealing with the same source as Recorder 3 but sped up. After pitch adjusting it I still wasn't sure I had another unique source. It is clear this source was captured in the same general vicinity as Recorder 3 and possibly within a few rows of each other. After you to the same areas of two different very similar sources for a lengthy amount of time you start to question what you are hearing especially when noises are shared and so close. There are instances, like the end of "Shut Out The Light" where the up close audience noise is very similar but one sounds like a female yell and one a male yell apart from the shared noises. In one instance I even double checked the pitch to make sure one wasn't too sharp creating a female sounding yell when in fact it was a male voice, pitch was adjusted correctly and this was not the case.
When you have shows that appear to be captured in the same general area, Recorders 1 & 2 of Frankfurt '81 come to mind, you have to just find those few segments that are clearly different. I'm sure there are a number of them for these two recorders but I landed on the beginning of "Because The Night" as confirmation of two unique recorders (sample one below).
A few additional examples, on Recorder 3, "My Hometown" has a whistle at the end, on Recorder 4 there is no whistle and a male's voice yells. Recorder 3 has some light chatter and laughing then someone giving them a "shhhhhh" at the start of "Shut Out The Light" that is missing on Recorder 4, again, most of these instances also have shared noises complicating matters making one question what they are hearing. You will also hear multiple instances where there are shared audience noises but then in the exact same place a male yell on one recorder and a female yell on the other.
(Sample two below is an example of this...the start of "No Surrender", once again the chances of this happening seems slim but it happens multiple times).
Complicating things even further is that this source is missing 3 of the last 4 songs where the Recorder 3 source is missing the last 4 songs and one thinks what are the chances of that.
So, here is a confirmed Recorder 4th source for the final night in LA 1984...it was maddening at times but I hope you enjoy!
