The Born In The USA Tour was in full swing when the band took the stage for the first night of a two night stand at the Coliseum in Oakland on October 21st.
We have one circulating recording currently released on Crystal Cat's 'Oakland Night' and Cellar Dweller's 'Reason To Believe In Oakland'. Those releases are from the same source and excellent quality, however, the source contains three cuts missing the starts of "Born In The USA", "Darlington County" and "Badlands".
This second source is very good to excellent quality with two cuts that I've patched using the Crystal Cat release making this show now complete..
It is clearly a meaningful show for Bruce, his parents who live in the area are in attendance and three weeks earlier grant a rare interview to the local hometown newspaper in San Meteo. This would be the only interview that we hear directly from Bruce's dad. You can read the interview hear:

The show immediately kicks into high gear after the usual "Born In The USA" opening with a rare second song outing of "Who'll Stop The Rain".
The mini Nebraska set stretches to five songs as Bruce dedicates "Mansion On The HIll" to his dad. The first set hits a high point with a drop dead gorgeous "Point Blank" generally reserved, if played at all, for the second set.
The second set hits on all notes, though fairly standard for this leg of the tour we do get treated to two nice 'rarities', played rather infrequently on the tour. "Growin' Up" featuring the bear story and in the encores the always welcome BITUSA outtake "Follow That Dream".
The comes out of the DS Archives and is a welcome new now complete perspective of this fine show.
