If the production you saw was a faithful one, you are going to be quite
disappointed in the 1936 film.

The version I saw on TV was called "Tops Is the Limit" and it was
pretty bad. Only a few songs from the original score and the script was
mangled. Maybe this was edited badly for TV and the original is
somewhat better.

I've seen college productions of Anything Goes, with rank amateurs, and
vastly preferred the experience.
