They were the 90% contributors and I never did learn the original source of their files, but they posted a *lot*.

If you note the age of the post you will see these posts are a year ago or longer. My advise: get as many as you can, while you can. They will be gone forever eventually unless (brazenly) reposted.

Get a huge storage drive and another for backup and a fast internet connection.

>It's only a matter of time before posters on other groups are similarly sued for posting (c) materials, including the other eBook groups. I for one grab what I can even if I don't have an immediate interest in the particular title. Never know when the other groups will go dark like <alt.binaries.e-book.technical> did. Don't feel the need to post (c) material--it may end up costing you a lot. If you post one or two books they will probably ignore you, but the chill factor is what the plaintiff's were counting on, and in this group at least, it worked.
>Same thing happened to <alt.binaries.educational> and <alt.binaries.cbt>. Glad I've been around long enough on Usenet to have grabbed what I could.

Lots of ebook copies of technical books that are out of
copywrite...but with the changing technical world we live in...what
was New even 3 yrs ago....is often Outdated today. I tend to look for
books for old machinery, older vehicles and that sort of stuff.
Even books beyond basic physics are outdated and are largely no longer
useful in todays world. Unless you are a hobby guy rebuilding tube ham
radios...
Which is why fiction remains popular..it never goes out of being
useful
Gunner, with a BUNCH of hard backs on Dos 3.1 and Win 98 etc
etc....sigh
