Just my opinion, but I don't like the way nzb downloaders handle text
messages on Usenet. I use Forte Agent for text messages and also to
look at the headers for the groups I follow -- and Forte Agent has
the bonus feature that it can make up nzbs from headers when there is
no nzb included with the post -- or the included nzb is broken. ( I
then load the nzb in Newsbin Pro for d/ling the post. ) Xnews is
also supposed to be good for text messages.
The problem is that the binary downloaders don't do quoting and all
the other niceties that a good e-mail or newsreader program will do
with text messages..
For d/l posts with nzb's I use either Newsbin Pro or Newsleecher
--mostly Newsbin Pro unless it chokes on a post (which it very rarely
does) then I put it in Newsleecher.
And of course for posting binaries, there's nothing like PowerPost.
So to sum it up, I think it's best to use three different programs--
one for text messages, one for posting binaries, and one for d/ling
binaires. I'm not aware of any one program that does all of the tasks
as well as the three I use -- Powerpost, Agent, Newsbin (or
Newsleecher make that four:)).
