Just out of curiosity, what systems/software are people using who are
having problems with mkv and x/h264? The near ubiquitous VLC player in
Windows has no problems. Is it MAC users who don't have suitable
players, or Linux etc users, or just who? I don't hear all that many
complaints these days as I did a few years ago, but from what you say,
I guess there are more than I hear about.
I have a friend who uses a Mac, refuses to install anything but the
default Mac player and can't seem to play anything but Mp4 or Mov. I
sent a disk of avi's and he acted like I was the weird one for not
having everything in Mp4 for him. Nope, doesn't want to install
anything that didn't come with his computer when he bought it.
Most BluRay players that handle media files seem to play all common
formats except Divx, and I understand some of the newest models may be
adding that codec, too.
As I said, just curious as to who the holdouts from the 21st century
are. (I'm surprised we haven't had someone ask for a post in 8mm).
