No. of course not.. "mind reading", especially "across
cultures" is at a skill level at the very top of the pyramid.
Something I myself aspire to achieve, one day, but
as yet I experience more spectacular "crash and burn"
results than any level of real proficiency :=D
I am looking at "newb", MamaT. What you have done
is introduced a new ^word^ both to my Net interaction
and indeed to this froup!
Never have I seen "newb" used here. In fact I don't recall
ever seeing it anywhere else in my travels.
And I reckon it is a brilliant descriptor for the other
level of newbie we get passing through ABCP.
Folks who are new to binary Usenet but not new to
Usenet itself, folks who are new to digitising but
not newbies in general computing and folks
who are newbies in sewing artwork but not new to
arts 'n' crafts.
In the past I have used "n00b" as a reference to many of
those presenting for the first time - as someone else other
than a total newbie - and done so in a comical aspect
moreso than as a "flame".
Many however never got the joke<g>

Sharing with you (it seems) an eagerness to do new
things well I went and searched "newb" to find the term
fits like a glove, to the criteria I was attempting to project
when using "n00b".

Sooo.. scratching out an entry in my virtual dictionary is what
I am busy doing, changing "n00b" (for ABCP) to that which
universally applies and adding "newb" using the descriptor
as you have used it.
No small thing is this MamaT, as one Lady here may attest.
Herself and I have fought for years over the use of
"eh" and "ay" as the acknowledging nod at the end on an
enquiring statement.
