What is preventing you from working it out?
Genuine question.. by the way :-)

There isn't a "real hopper".. it is a name I use on
Usenet. Nothing to stop anyone else using it also.
Just like "wendy" isn't a 'real wendy'.. or at least I
do trust such is the case :-)

Anyone can post whatever to Usenet, in theory.
In practice many actually do, once.. maybe twice.
A few others, a very very few, like .001 of 1%
_insist_ on using that freedom in posting the stuff you
see, behaving the way this "hopper" impersonating
character does.
Some history is here:
<ZXRlo.162911$Yn5.82459@en-nntp-14.dc1.easynews.com>
If you have read anything posted on the topic you will
know every single objection IT sprouts -- as reason to
behave how IT does -- has been addressed and
explained - in three fold.
What IT is now citing as 'excuse' is the lack of posts.
IT says posts are not being made because rules are
being set. Like pretty much everything it reads, the
text is way too complex so IT mixes up "advice" with
"orders". Bizarre, yes, I know... and IT is not alone
today or in the past, in this NG or elsewhere.
My Usenet experience has been that once the
confusion evolves into personality disorders there is
only one solution. That solution has been effected at
least four times on IT - in this NG alone. After a
break (sometimes months) IT always returns.
A lasting _Group_ solution has to be developed.
I am open to suggestions, and put the following as a
point of discussion in finding a way out - for IT.
What if we all. post lots of files, those of us who
know how to post so everyone gets the posts?
And how's this for a radical thought... we all use
"hopper" as a posting ID???
In every other NG it infests it has been seen that IT
attacks the knowledge base of the NG singling out those
posters who know. This so as to get them to leave.
That 'tactic' has worked for IT in some NGs and the
Group dies. Because he _knows_ such a tactic works is
_why_ IT does what it does. That simple ;-/
Sooo.. some display of solidarity would certainly cause
a degree of total confusion in IT's head and maybe a
rethink on the futility of dealing with a strong NG?
It is _only_ in strong working NGs where IT has failed
to have an impact.
.. over to you :-)
